88 Miles Per Hour

88 Miles Per Hour, originally uploaded by delgonzo.

The TV Gods have been kind to me again. In between work and going out, I have been blessed with all 3 "Back to the Future" movies on TBS. Thanks for keeping me company Doc, Marty, Biff, George and Einstein.
Dr. Emmett Brown: "If my calculations are correct, when this baby hits eighty-eight miles per hour... you're gonna see some serious shit."

the Werks

They exist. There are more out there like me. They too travel around and do mobile marketing. This week we came across 2 other teams that work for Marketing Werks and go around promoting a product. The Verizon Wireless crew saw us at an event and introduced themselves, from them we met the V.E.R.B. crew and this whole week has consisted of hanging out with each other and enjoying the California night life. It's great to hang out with people that understand the ups and downs of being on a mobile marketing gig. It seems everyone but me has done this before, and it's great to hear about their past adventures. Our big night out as a group was Thursday for Cinco de Mayo! We cruised Hollywood, saw a red carpet premiere for something (they had Tom Cruise, Kaite Holmes and some other "stars"), and ended up at this Latin Club on La Brea and Wilshire (The Conga Room). Supposedly, Jennifer Lopez is part owner of this club. When I heard that, I was this close to suggesting we go some where else. I don't want to support JLO's ASSets. But since we had a nice group (3 girls, 3 guys, with more to come), the owner gave us a reduced cover charge. Instead of being $20, we got in for $7. We danced Salsa, Reggaeton & whatever other latin music they played. Up until this Cinco de Mayo, I thought I was the only Latino that didn't know how to properly dance; but that night, I came to the conclusion that every Latino has the dancing gene in them...it just takes some Tequila to get it out.

An Evening with the Padres

An Evening with the Padres, originally uploaded by delgonzo.

I came to my senses and decided not to return to the ELLEN SHOW. Instead, I decided to make a drive down to San Diego and catch a Padres game. Ahh, San Diego, of course if you've seen ANCHORMAN: THE LEGEND OF RON BURGUNDY you know San Diego was founded by the Germans in the late 1800's and San Diego translates to "Whales Vagina." But I didn't get too much of a chance to verify all that, since this was not a School trip, this was a baseball trip. I showed up to the park about an hour early and walked around and familiarized myself with the surroundings. Petco Park is only 2 yeears old (it's just a little baby) and is very nice. They have a nice pitching and batting area for fans. I bought some tokens and did some pitching versus Frank Thomas and Paul Konerko, my fastest pitch was 44mph (some kid before me got it to 55mph) and I decided to bat against Freddy Garcia. For dinner that evening, I had a 1/2 pound Friar Frank and had this great beer from San Francisco called "Anchor Steam" (I wonder if Palmers has it? It was sooo goood!) At the end, the Padres won and beat the last place Rockies. The highlight of the game was sitting next to a cute little baby girl who always laughed at me...or smiled with me, as I like to say.

Shaving

Shaving, originally uploaded by delgonzo.

Dumb and Dumber: One of the funniest movies of all time. This is one of my favorite scenes. The other favorite scene: it's the end of the movie and Harry and Lloyd are walking down the highway talking about not catching a break. Then a bus full of the Hawaiin Tropic Girls (in Bikini's!) pulls by and asks them if they know of any good guys who can lube them up for shows. Harry says they can find help in the next town over. The girls look at them funny and sadly get back on their bus. Lloyd, all of sudden, realizes the big mistake his friend just made. "Do you realize what you done!?" They chase after the bus and beg it to stop. The door opens and the girls are happy the guys came to their senses. Lloyd says "You'll have to excuse my friend. He's a little slow...The town is back that way." Oy!

Los Angeles, Mexico

Los Angeles, Mexico, originally uploaded by delgonzo.

We were driving down the streets of L.A. and what do I notice? A billboard for a news show on a spanish channel. What struck out to me was how they crossed out the CA and replaced it with MEXICO. I tell ya, nothing bad, but, California is so much like Mexico.

The Coming

The Coming, originally uploaded by delgonzo.

So I had the nice pleasure of meeting an actress from Mexican Soap Opera, her name is Angelica Rivera and she also happens to be a spokesperson for the candy of Pelon Pelo Rico. She was at our 2 big events and she signed autographs for 2hours at each event. She was very nice, and actually a lot more cooler than I though she'd be. I figured she would be a stuck up, very girly, very particular actress. But she was not. She was nice, patient and she even talked to me (gasp!) and she even put her hand on my shoulder when we took a picture. I'll never wash that shoulder again.
